The
instructors

Jan Timmers
Jan is a visual artist en mainly works with oil paint. He graduated from the HKU in 2023, with a degree in Fine Art, after gratuating from Fine Art & Education earlier in 2021. For him, painting is a game of building up and tearing down, where he belances between recognision and alienation.

Elma Čavčić
Elma Čavčić graduated from the HKU, in Fine Art and Design in Education. Since then, she has been working as a visual artist and teacher. Elma makes both abstract and realistic art and specializes in collages and still lifes. An important theme in her work is the war from her parents’ stories.

Krijn Kroes
Krijn Kroes paints natural phenomena such as flowers, plants and animals, which become almost abstract through his working method. His work plays with paint, light and materiality, giving his paintings an almost holographic character. When you move around the paintings, different perspectives and hidden layers reveal themselves.

Yara de Kok
Yara de Kok is a visual artist and teacher. In 2017 she graduated from the HKU from the Fine Art & Design in Education program. Her collages and paintings arise from her fascination for architecture. In her work she plays with the tension between reality and surreality.

About
us
Schilderles Utrecht is an initiative of Janne Colenbrander. Together with Martijn den Ouden, she founded Schilderles Amsterdam, a busy studio where visual artists and students meet. Janne made her mark in the book industry, where she created successful campaigns at various publishers and collaborated with numerous writers and visual artists.
With Schilderles Utrecht, we want to create a space where everyone is welcome, the student is central, and the pleasure of painting is experienced.
